One farm associated with the current cantaloupe outbreak has withdrawn its cantaloupe from the market, although it has not issued a public recall. In response to this and another cantaloupe recall, several stores have pulled cantaloupe from their shelves: Kroger, Marsh, Meijer, Schneiders, Schnucks and WalMart.
To prevent further illness, consumers need to know the names of the grower and the retailers involved in this outbreak.
The CDC has published a partial list of confirmed cases of Salmonella Typhimurium caused by the Indiana cantaloupe, and our investigation into the outbreak has uncovered additional cases. To date, there are 145 confirmed cases in 21 states, and more cases will be confirmed as this outbreak continues.
Over 30 people have been hospitalized and two have died. We expect these numbers to increase as the outbreak grows.
