Attorney David Szerlag

David Szerlag, of counsel attorney for Pritzker Hageman, focuses primarily in the areas of product liability, fires and explosions, medical negligence and catastrophic injuries. His experience extends into admiralty, general liability and civil litigation. He brings Pritzker Hageman extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts.

David is a former fire fighter with training in advanced life support and hazardous material. His certifications include Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) and National Propane Gas Association (NPGA). He is also certified as a 29 CFR 1910.120(q) Hazardous Materials Technician (ProBoard).

Between 1996 and 2005, David presented at the Annual Educational Seminars for Northland Insurance Co., Orion Insurance Co., Patrons Group, and GMCA. In 2003, he was a guest speaker for the Rhode Island Bar Association meeting, “Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Law.”

In 1990 David graduated cum laude from Suffolk University School of Law in Boston, MA, earning his Juris Doctorate.

David is a member of the Minnesota, Massachusetts and Rhode Island Bar Associations. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).

David served as a National Chairman on Roger Williams University Alumni Appeal Committee. He is a member of the Continuing Education Advisory Board. He also took time to work with the Coventry Basketball Association, as well as the local Food Bank.

Before working with Pritzker Hageman, David practiced law at Foley & Mansfield. Before that, he was a senior partner of the Rhode Island law firm Baluch, Gianfrancesco, Mathieu & Szerlag.

Education: Suffolk University School of Law, Boston, MA, J.D., cum laud, 1990; Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI, B.S. in Public Administration, 1985.
