Eric’s Story
Eric Hageman is a trial lawyer who is passionate about his work handling catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases throughout the country. His recoveries for clients include a $45 million settlement for a person who was severely burned.
The son of a bowling-alley proprietor, Eric began working in the family business at a young age, learning the value of hard work and the importance of customer service. After attending public high school, Eric parlayed his athletic success into admission to an Ivy League college, graduating from Dartmouth in 1990. Returning home for law school, Eric set out to become a lawyer for real people, not big companies. In law school, he began doing volunteer legal work for prison inmates, which taught him that those who have a voice have a duty to speak up for those who are voiceless.
Eric has carried that lesson into his career as a trial lawyer, trying and winning difficult cases for people who have been injured – or for the families of people wrongfully killed – due to the careless or reckless actions of wrongdoers and rule-breakers. While representing “the little guy” against big corporations or insurance companies, the majority of Eric’s work is on behalf of people involved in explosions, injured by contaminated water and food, hurt by reckless drivers or who were seriously harmed by defective products. The common thread in all of Eric’s cases is his insistence that wrong-doers be held accountable for the harm they have caused, in whatever form that takes.
Eric has been married since 1995 to his wife Jill, who is also an attorney, and their family includes five children, two dogs and a cat. In 1998, Eric and Jill adopted their two oldest sons (who were then 6 and 7 years old) out of foster care in Minneapolis and they have remained committed to organizations supporting “waiting children.” When he is not practicing law, Eric is active in his children’s lives and in community events. Eric has coached all five of his children in a variety of sports, has completed several triathlons and marathons and enjoys hiking, biking and running.
What I Can Do for You
“The goal of obtaining equal justice under law for my clients is the ideal which drives me. Everyone is entitled to justice.”
The desire to help regular people, not big companies, is what drove me to become a lawyer in the first place and working hard to help David defeat Goliath is what drives me still today. I am a fierce advocate for my clients with a passion for seeing that wrongs get righted. Over the course of my career, I have zealously represented injured people seeking justice in over twenty different states, obtaining numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. I am committed to helping my clients find the truth in complicated situations and get the compensation and justice they and their families deserve.
